Avid golfers in Lae and surrounding centers have the opportunity to participate in the Team PNG Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge when it returns to the Lae Golf Club this Friday.

The last time this Golf Challenge was held in Lae was in 2015 and organisers, the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee is looking forward to seeing the fierce but friendly rivalry on the Lae greens again.

Secretary General of the PNG Olympic Committee, Auvita Rapilla said Lae had always supported the PM’s Corporate Golf Challenge through their participation and they are pleased to take the event there again.

“With the Pacific Games coming up, it is important that we have the support of all our partners, corporate friends and the public and we are looking forward to the Golf Challenge in Lae this Friday,” said Rapilla.

Winners of the competition will win the PM’s Corporate Golf Challenge winner’s trophy and the title as champions.

They will also fly away with a return ticket each from Lae to Sydney courtesy of Air Niugini.

Second place getters will receive Air Niugini tickets for Lae to Brisbane while the third placed team will also receive Air Niugini return tickets for Lae to Cairns.

Players also have the chance to win a brand new Toyota Hilux if they get a Hole-In-One on the 8th hole.

The first leg of the PM’s Corporate Golf Challenge was held in Port Moresby on May 17 with 30 teams participating, raising a total of K112,000.

Funds raised from this event goes towards sending Team PNG to the 16th Pacific Games which will be held in Apia, Samoa from July 4 to 20 this year.

“We are sending a big team to the Games so we want to raise as much as we can to send all our best sports men and women,” said Rapilla.

She appealed to corporate organisations be part of the event by registering a team to participate in PMs Golf Challenge.

Registration for a team is K3,000 and interested organisations can contact the PNG Olympic Committee on 323 0114, 325 1449 or email shoi@pngoc.org.pg or Annette at the Lae Golf Club on 472 1353 for more information.

Organisations are also invited to donate prizes or become sponsors for different holes on the course.
