PNGOC acknowledges contribution to Sport by Sir Kostas Constantinou

The PNG Olympic Committee, has expressed its sincere condolences on behalf of Team PNG and its member National Federations, on the untimely passing of Sir Kostas Constantinou.

The Committee while extending its deepest sympathies to the family of the late Sir Kostas during this bereaved time, also reflects back on the life of Sir Kostas and acknowledged his positive contribution to sport development.

In expressing his sympathies, President Sir John Dawanincura  acknowledged his contribution to sport in Papua New Guinea, especially the role he played in ensuring the success of the 2015 Pacific Games as Chairman of the 2015 Pacific Games Authority from 2012 to 2016.

“Sir Kostas was a well-respected leader in the community; he was a gentleman and a great friend to all he was in contact with from all walks of life. May his soul rest in peace”, he added.

The Pacific Games Council also conveyed their condolences with a statement by Andrew Minogue, CEO. He stated that “Sir Kostas made an enormous contribution to the success of the 2015 Pacific Games.  Without his connections to government, business and sport, the Games would not have reached the superb heights that they did.  He was a very good friend to the Pacific Games and to many of those involved in our movement”.

Sir Kostas is a prominent business figure in Papua New Guinea, also held a number of high-level public sector and private sector appointments.
